Applying the Colorboom style

Prepare the natural nail for product application and perform a manicure (for example aEuropean ManicureofTS Cuticle RemoverIf necessary, strengthen the natural nail or correct its shape with TS Acrygel or TS Sculpt Gel. Remove the sticky layer and any filing dust.

  • Apply the Gel Polish in a thin but even layer approximately ⅓ from the free edge.
  • Using an ombre brush that's clean and slightly damp with cleanser, blend the color across the nail bed, also known as blending. In between, clean the brush with a cellulose swab dampened with cleanser.
  • Once you're satisfied with the fading, cure the gel polish for 30-60 seconds under the UV/LED lamp. Repeat this step on all nails.
  • Next, apply a thin layer of T-Gel over the entire nail plate. Before curing, build up the nail's architecture with a small ball of T-Gel (as you would with a BIAB or Natural Nail Treatment). Once you're satisfied with the curvature, cure the nail for 60 seconds under a UV/LED lamp. Repeat this step for all nails.
  • Once all nails have been built up and cured, remove the sticky layer of the T-Gel.
  • Apply a small amount of TS Bond to the nail where you want to place the flakes. This will ensure they stick well. Apply the flakes with a nail art brush or a nail polish brush, pressing gently until they're flat. You don't want the flakes to stick up or stick out.
  • Now finish the nails with a matte top coat and cure it.

Variations:You can, of course, vary this look with many different colors of gel polish and T-Gel covers. You can also alternate different colors of foil and flakes.

Pro Tip:Test out a few color combinations beforehand to ensure the gel polish you choose fades well and the T-Gel Cover color complements it well. This way, you'll have a few examples for your client to choose from.
